Fantastic Fall Happenings at the Bahia Resort and Catamaran Resort in San Diego’s Mission Bay
San Diego, CA – Fall is the perfect time for a getaway to San Diego’s Mission Bay, home of the Bahia Resort Hotel and Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa, as the summer crowds diminish, sunsets glow in vibrant autumn colors, and temperatures average a pleasantly warm 74 degrees.
Guests can enjoy a cornucopia of fun-filled fall activities and events at both the Bahia and Catamaran, from hula dance lessons and lei making to outdoor movie nights and a Halloween cruise, as well as an entire month devoted to free offerings just for kids. Following is some of the top things to do at both resorts this fall.
Kids Rule!
October is Kids Free San Diego Month. From October 1-31, the Bahia and Catamaran resorts are rolling out the welcome mat for children aged 12 and under with special eat, stay, and play for free offers. Hotel guests who dine at Oceana Coastal Kitchen in the Catamaran Resort or Dockside 1953 in the Bahia Resort can enjoy a free kid’s meal for each paid adult entrée. Additionally, Action Sport Rentals at both resorts is offering a complimentary paddleboard or kayak rental with the purchase of one adult one-hour or longer paddleboard or kayak rental. Offers are limited to a maximum of two complimentary kid’s meals per visit and two complimentary paddleboard or kayak rentals per visit.
Hotel guests can enjoy more free fun on the water with complimentary kids’ tickets (one per paid adult ticket) on the historic Bahia Belle sternwheeler sightseeing cruises, departing from the Bahia and Catamaran.
Foodie Fest
The tables are set for the return of San Diego Restaurant Week, September 25-October 2. Oceana Coastal Kitchen at the Catamaran is offering a curated three-course dinner paired with stunning views of Mission Bay. Guests can choose from three mouthwatering entrées – pan-roasted duck breast, grilled chili-rubbed swordfish, or curry fried tofu – plus a choice of starters and decadent desserts by Chef Steven Riemer. Cost is $50 per person.
Frightful Fun
Dress up in your favorite costumes and hop aboard the William D. Evans Halloween Cruise on October 28 (9 p.m.-12 a.m.), departing from the Bahia Resort pier. There will be two DJs, a lighted dance floor, liquid treats/drink specials, and a photobooth to capture the night’s “spook-tacular” memories. Partygoers must be 21 years or older. Cost is $40 per person.
Mimosa Me!
A weekly tradition, the Sunday Champagne Brunch Buffet is back at the Catamaran Resort’s Oceana Coastal Kitchen, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (starting September 18). Guests can sip bottomless mimosas and savor an assortment of salads and antipasto, fresh pastries, a seafood cold bar, and mini desserts, as well as their choice of a brunch-specific a la carte entrée. Cost is $80 per person.
Polynesian Delights
It’s island time, all the time at the Catamaran Resort, San Diego’s premier tropical oasis on Mission Bay. A poolside Keiki Klub (Kids Club) occurs Saturdays from 1-3 p.m., featuring complimentary Hawaiian-inspired arts and crafts.
Guests of all ages can get into the “Aloha Spirit” with complimentary Hula Lessons and fresh flower Lei Making (cost $20), which take place bayside on Saturdays from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Also, every Saturday at 1 p.m., an electrifying torch lighting ceremony featuring drummers and hula dancers, carries on the island vibe.
Get up close and personal with Bianchi, a vibrant blue & gold macaw known for his animal impressions, and five other captivating parrots during the popular “Meet the Birds” show – a real-life, outdoor enchanted tiki room. Shows take place daily at 3 p.m. (except on Sundays and Wednesdays) outside the lobby of the Catamaran.
Floating Nightclub
Make waves on the Bahia Belle After Dark Cruise, Mission Bay’s ultimate party boat, on Fridays and Saturdays, 9 p.m.-12 a.m. While cruising the calm waters of the bay, guests can dance to live music and enjoy cocktails and craft brews. Partygoers must be 21 years or older. Cruises depart from the Bahia Resort on Fridays and the Catamaran Resort on Saturdays. Cost is $15 for hotel guests, $25 for general admission.
Autumn Chill
Guests at the Catamaran Resort can find some much-needed beachfront bliss this fall with Yoga on the Bay, which takes place daily 8:30-9:30 a.m. The complimentary open-air yoga session, overlooking the calm waters of Mission Bay, is a relaxing way to begin the day. Mats are provided.
Fall Flicks
Taking full advantage of San Diego’s mild autumn weather, both the Bahia and Catamaran resorts host complimentary outdoor, family-friendly movie nights for guests. Movies on the Bay take place at the Catamaran every Friday night, with complimentary popcorn and a stunning backdrop of Mission Bay. Movies Nights on the Bahia’s front patio take place on Saturdays, beginning at dusk, with complimentary popcorn as well.
